As the last month of my college career came to an end, I was flooded with instant relief as I turned in my last paper, put on my cap and gown and accepted my diploma; officially giving me the go-ahead to enter the real world.

I now had a graphic design degree in my toolbox and I couldn’t wait to use it. Flash forward 6 months and I’m sitting here at Imarc, at my new desk typing this blog post. I just finished a meeting with a client where I presented my design comp!
I stumbled upon Imarc in the midst of a few other opportunities I was considering. If it wasn’t the super sleek and animated website that sold me immediately, then it was the friendly and fun atmosphere that welcomed me into the office during my first day. These guys immediately stood out from the other agencies I had visited. I knew I made the right choice.
What I learned my first week at Imarc:
It’s OK to Ask Questions, in Fact You Should Always Ask Questions
I didn’t know what to expect on my first day. As a million questions rushed through my head, from “what time is lunch?” to “where is the main server located?”, I learned quickly that it’s totally ok to ask questions, and strongly encouraged. Asking questions means you are willing to continue learning. It means you are open to new ideas, new concepts and even new software (which you have to be when working in a digital design agency and technology is constantly changing).
Team Really Means Team
Collaborative spirit and genuineness is apparent throughout the office in an open design concept and uber-cool collaboration rooms . Design printouts and white boards provoke conversation and discussion. People here like working together so much that it makes perfect sense that the Imarc motto is: Let’s Create the Incredible Together. Within a week I witnessed the different combinations of teams; design + marketing; strategy + design + development; production + marketing; the combinations go on and on. But the most important team ultimately is Imarc + client, and we’ve got some hardware to prove that teamwork REALLY works.
These People Are Fun, They Work Hard and Most Importantly Are Real.
Interviewing can be a dull, monotonous process of question and answer. Everyone needs to put their professional pants on and be the best version of themselves, but most confuse their best with “fake”. Not at Imarc. It was refreshing to have a conversation here, rather than an “interview”. Imarc is transparent. What you see is what you get. Imarc has honest and reliable relationships with their clients and secures lasting partnerships. Like Starwood Hotels, who we’ve worked with since the beginning (19 years to be exact!).
Even though I’ve been here less than a month, I can honestly say I’ve already learned so much! I am so excited to say I’m a part of the Imarc team and can’t wait to see what amazing things we will accomplish this year! (Another Neilson Award?!)
